They'd probably have to create a whole lot of additional dungeons, explorable areas, expand towns and incidental NPCs, etc. I could see those aspects being awkward in a first person real time context. It's hard to see how they would do it though, FO1 is especially a very short, unfinished game (what is there is great though, and it's my personal favorite Fallout for nostalgia reasons) so it would require some additional content and padding, likely make most quests longer with more alternate paths as well.Īlso FO1 and 2 had basically little to no dungeon crawling or overworld exploration, you were mostly doing quests in cities, and you could go hours without doing any combat depending on your playstyle. I always love seeing older games I loved reinterpreted. I would love it, even if they made it more like the modern shooter RPGs, that Fallout is now. There were clearly some exceptions (Half-Life 2, Warcraft 3, WoW, The Sims 2) but I'm not really talking about quality of games, more so market viability at the time, even if they were simplified hack-n-slashes, RPGs were not fairing well on PC.Īs for a remaster of FO1 and 2. And it wasn't ported because no one saw money in PC RPGs back then anymore, hell, even most PC games weren't as profitable, the early 2000s was a tough time because the consoles at the time were really at the top of their game, and hardware requirements for a lot of games were obscene back then while being expensive as well, people still mostly only had home computers, and gaming PCs were not as prevelant or inexpensive as now. In any case, BoS works fine on both a Xbox and PS2 emulator. BoS is actually a functional, not so buggy game, and isn't completely mechanically busted like Tactics is because of how it utterly failed at both its real time and turn based models.ĭon't get me wrong, BoS is still stunningly mediocre and inferior to its peers, like Dark Alliance and Champions of Norrath, but I'd much rather bust through it with a friend and some beers than play Tactics and have to slog through HP sponge robots while worrying that the exit grid won't work at the end of the mission, and simultaneously hating myself because the game is incredibly easy but still takes forever.īoS also is decently difficult in that regard. Extremely unpopular opinion here, I'd rather play BoS than Tactics.
